Stephen was born and raised in Show Low, AZ to a humble family of ranchers and timber workers. He cut his teeth in the outdoors chasing both big and small game in the White Mountains of Arizona. Through school, he worked with multiple outfitters, locating and filming target game for clients and assisting in their pursuit. After completing high school, Stephen Joined the U.S. Army and served 8 years, with a tour of combat to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Upon his Honorable discharge, he returned to Arizona to pick up where he had left off.
Two years later, he and his wife Kim relocated to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. While struggling to reintegrate into civilian life, he turned to hunting as a primary means of clearing his head and reconnecting with his roots. With nearly year-round seasons and fishing plentiful, the outdoors quickly became an addiction and life began to revolve around it. Being fully immersed in the outdoors played a critical role in his ability to let his mind fully return from combat and transition from the mindset of a combat-wounded veteran to that of an outdoor mentor.
This drive led him to begin his time as a volunteer guiding hunts and organizing events in Virginia for Operation NPLB Outdoors, as well as assisting in the education of outdoor activities to other transitioning veterans. He pursues this in hopes of helping others transition back to a near-normal life after time in service overseas. It has become a true passion, and he continues to share his knowledge and experiences as the Co-Host of The Outdoor Drive Podcast, a Content Creator, and an ambassador to the outdoors.
